Balmain and Trudon are pleased to announce a special, limited-edition version of the Balmain x Trudon candle, whose glass and box take on a warm and daring tone for this occasion. Perfect to start this new year on a very couture note. Since its launch over a year ago, the Trudon x Balmain scented candle has become one of Balmain's most popular collaborations.

Developed by the historic fashion house's creative director, Olivier Rousteing, in partnership with Emilie Bouge, the offering is an evolution of Trudon's best selling scent, Ernesto.

Ernesto has long been Rousteing's favourite Trudon scent, forming a key ingredient of the distinctive ambience found within his office, home as well as Balmain boutiques across the globe.

Bouge concocted an expert floral and feminine flourish for Ernesto's masculine notes, relying on the mysterious and distinct touch of black rose in order to create an ideal olfactory reflection of the twenty-first century Balmain brand.

The unique glass vessel with its bold stripes references one of the brand's signature runway themes - his modern and luxe take on the traditional French sweater.

The label is printed in gold foil and applied by hand.

The special edition candle is available in both the classic 270g size as well as the grand bougie 3kg.

The exclusive scent:

An exclusive scent was created by Emilie Bouge in collaboration with Olivier Rousteing and Trudon.

Bouge has given Ernesto a floral and feminine twist. In addition to the leathery, Atlas Cedarwood, gunpowder and cigar notes, the scent features the mysterious and distinguished addition of black rose.

Heritage

In 1643 a salesman named Claude Trudon arrived in Paris and became the owner of a store in Rue Saint-Honoré. He was a grocer but also a wax merchant and supplied his customers with candles for lighting their homes and for the parish. On the eve of Louis XIV's reign, Trudon thus created a small family manufacturing business that was to carry his name forward and make the fortune of his heirs. His son Jacques also became a shopkeeper and wax producer and entered the court of Versailles in 1687, as apothecary distiller of Marie-Thérèse, wife of the King. In the 18th century, in 1737, Hierosme Trudon purchased the most famous wax factories of the era from the official wax provider to King Louis XV. Trudon grew and began supplying the French court and the most important churches. The Trudon company supplied Versailles until the very end of the monarchy. As Napoleon's wax producer during the Empire, the company survived the arrival of domestic lighting and the birth of the "electric revolution" continuing to prosper. Trudon continued its work throughout the centuries, without ever interrupting its activity, particularly through the making of traditional candles and perfumed candles for the greatest names. It is now the oldest and most prestigious wax manufacturer in the world.
